Recent Scheme Changes

Important updates to creative tax relief schemes.

New Expenditure Credits (AVEC & VGEC)

From January 2024, the new Audio-Visual Expenditure Credit (AVEC) and Video Games Expenditure Credit (VGEC) systems are in effect. These replace the previous reliefs with a more streamlined, above-the-line credit system. Productions starting after March/April 2025 must use the new schemes.

Permanent Uplifts for Arts

The higher rates of relief for Theatre (40%/45%), Orchestra (45%), and Museums & Galleries (40%/45%) have been made permanent from April 2025. This provides long-term certainty and support for the UK's cultural institutions.
